The concept of resilience : a message of hope from psychology
Resilience is a psychological phenomenon which consists in overcoming a traumatic event (accident, love bereavement, tragic situation) and get away from the subsequent depression. Resilience is made possible through reflection, talks, and sometimes medical therapy or analysis. Resilience etymologically comes from the roman verb resiliere which means “jump back”. The concept of resilience was developed by Boris Cyrulnik, a french ethologist, from the observation and analysis of concentration camp survivors.
Resilience is a dynamic process that is the result of multiple sub-processes that stop negative trajectories:
- The ability to cope with stress effectively and in a healthy manner
- Having good problem-solving skills
- No hesitation to seek help
- Manage feeings
- Keeping in contact with family, friends or beloved
- Self-disclosure of the trauma to loved ones
- Spirituality or intellectualism
- Having an identity as a survivor as opposed to a victim
- Helping others
- Finding positive meaning in the trauma, i.e. “turning poison into elixir”.
In today’s societies, numerous economic or personal traumas are lived by millions of people worldwide. It is very important that they have knowledge of this concept, for hope lays in it : everybody can overcome its despair.
But others are very important in this kind of personal therapy, following a dramatic event. Friends, partners, family are the most important thing one have to “jump back” before the trauma, and start a new psychological life in which, indeed the trauma is never forgotten, but its consequences over our psychological well-being are reduced or cancelled.
A psychologist is also very important when someone feels in complete despair after a traumatic event, for they know how to make you analyse and understand the reasons of your despair, they can help you define a planning tat can make you see life from a new perspective. They’ll advise you to make sports, to meet people, to concentrate yourself on your work, to make activities that will make you dive in a new life, where the trauma, well analysed, is put behind the most important things of one’s life.
Finding a good partner, someone who listen to you, who bring you love and tenderness, who share your life, its difficulties and its good moments is eventually the best way to get over such depression.
We would like to help you find friends, partners and psychologists on GoodWizz. We hope you’ll find them and we are here to support you all along the process!

The growing importance of psychology in a world of crisis
In a world that knew so much changes in so few years, where a terrible economic and financial crisis affected millions of lives worldwide, where performance is exacted everywhere in the professional life, where people, living in huge “cities of loneliness” are more often confronted to divorces, economic changes, pollution, Psychology has never been so necessary.
Psychology aims at helping people to face, analyse and solve their personal problems. Psychology enables people to better know themselves, to make connections between their past and their present behaviour, to overcome tragic situations that can affect their lives. This lead them to feel more confident, to better manage their stress. And there are so many stressful situations in today’s societies, be it inside professional carrer or in the private life.
Psychology is not only a discipline made to solve problems, but also a way to improve personalities or persons that live a very happy life, thanks to the personal development process, over which we have already discussed in this blog.
That’s why GoodWizz offers to their users the possibility to contact easily one of our professional psychologists, ready to answer to all your questions, and to give you a careful listening, be it in the prospect of a meeting through GoodWizz, or for any personal issue you would like to discuss about.
It works ! So many people have overcome their problems and built a new life. Specialists have so many examples of people that were in complete despair, after a break in their relationship, or for professional causes, and succeed to find in themselves the strength to initiate a new departure. Psychologists are here to help them define their personal purposes. They belong to different schools so as to give you the most diversified viewpoints over your questions.
We’ll talk tomorrow about resilience, a very important notion that refers to the capacity, laying in all humans, to overcome a terrible situation and define a new cape of hope in one’s life.

Simple rules to succeed in meeting
Excited but stressed. This feeling has been shared by all humanity before each one’s first date with the potential partner, for who we hide a secret admiration, a discrete attraction.
We received recently countless messages over the first meetings through GoodWizz. What should I wear. What sould I say ? How should I behave ?
Maybe the first question is "what shouldn't we do ?".
I remember a date with a girl I was found of. I was young and terrorized by the idea of making any mistake. I made no mistake, but I made nothing. I remember parties where I couldn’t talk to anybody for I knew anyone and didn’t know how to “break the ice”. It is a difficult thing to do to overcome our shyness.
That's why more and more people feel the need to be given a set of rules one must bear in mind in order to succeed in meeting. Psys and coaches have for years analysed the complex "human seduction process" so as to understand the causes of successes or failures in relationshinps.
Let’s set up a set of simple et obvious rules but that can be forgeted and have failing consequences for your first dates :
- Be clean. Smell good. SMILE. Do not hesitate to use cosmetics to hide any small skin problem. Don’t forget deodorant! Men : try to have a manly voice.
- Don’t show you are needy. Show you are free and independent. It universally arouse desire in the meeting phase.
- Be natural, that’s the key idea. You are someone good. Tell it to yourself 5times “I am some one good”. You’ll gain self confidence. What you think and what you are worth it.
- Humor is very important, never forget it. Prepare good sallies if you are not used to be humorous. Titillate your partner, he/she usually loves it.
- Make sports. Sports generate endorphins and make you happy. It gives you more strength in your professional and love life. It gives you self-confidence and learn you your limits and the way to supersede them.
- If you’re a man, know two or three things in current women issues. Women love men who keep an eye on women’s life. But don’t pass your date to talk about that, a man must remain a man.
- Improve your cultural references. Cinemas, exhibitions, theatre or even operas can be very successful meeting
Failure in meeting often proceeds from the oblivion of one or more of these simple advices.
Be yourself, with your weaknesses, with your humor, with your scathing real face that make you unique.

What personal development is and how GoodWizz can help you
Personal development is a process of individual self-development through psychological, intellectual, social and physical improvements. Reaching personal development purposes implies defining goals, plans or actions oriented towards one or more of the following aims:
Any sort of development — be it economic, political, biological, organizational or personal — requires strategy, objectives, plans and steps. Finding the good person to live one’s life, feel good in one’s job, develop one’s group of trustful friends, improve one’s health and physical performances are manifold aspects of personal development. This “personal development trend” lead by psychologists, coaches and writers, fills magazines covers and arouse the curiosity of million people worldwide.
GoodWizz thinks that personal development is an important step to reach your personal goals.
We have a lot of testimonials of persons who were on the verge of despair, believing that love wasn’t for them, that they would never reach their professional purposes and who finally by luck, thanks to the good website or thanks to word of mouth, talked to the good coach or read the good book and understood many tips that helped them define their goals and the steps to reach it. Such a process changed definitively their way of acting and eventually their life, in a goo way. This requires method and determination, self control, but as soon as the person has understood the potential benefits of such a process, they get the mental strength to stick to their strategy.
GoodWizz also believe that there is not a unique way to succeed in a personal development process. Each individual must define his own goals, and define with his coach a personal methodology given his own past, strength and weakness, social origins and tastes. Fore some, it would be to beat their shyness. For others it will be to become more attractive and improve one’s beauty, lose some weight, and find their soul mate.
One must also bear in mind that happiness in life proceeds from an equilibrium in all the different aspects of our lives: love, professional life, friends, hobbies, sports, spiritual or intellectual life. Each one has his strength and weakness in each of these fields, and personal development implies to define one’s own diagnosis of weakness with a specialist.
GoodWizz enable you to join easily these specialists. Don't hesitate to contact them !

For english speakers : Our philosophy at GoodWizz : create bridge between people and communities, and not accepting the racial differenciation on dating websites !

Facebook data says we are entering breakup season...
Facebook data says we are entering breakup season.... yes people can update their relationship status on Facebook (not on Goodwizz) and statistics show that now is a bad time... Come to Goodwizz then to quickly meet partners ;)

Facebook's dataset is fast becoming one of the premiere probes of human behavior. Using the site's statistics, we can double-check our intuitions about how people, in aggregate, behave.
And so it's with great sadness that I inform you that breakup season has begun, according to this graph from David McCandless, scraped from 10,000 status updates on the site. Right at the beginning of November, breakups start climbing, peaking a couple of weeks before Christmas.
Obviously, all sorts of caveats, selection biases, etc. But remember, this is just the beginning. Putting our social lives online means allowing our social lives to be quantified. Just look at all theanalysis the dating site OKCupid puts out about our relationship predilections.
According to an article by Matthias Mikkelsen http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2010/11/uh-oh-facebook-data-says-were-entering-breakup-season/65579/
